More than a third of adults (35%) now own a smartphone, and most owners (87%) have used their mobile device to access the internet or email. In fact, 68% of smartphone owners use their handheld to use the internet or email on a typical day. This includes a large segment that relies on their smartphone for most of their internet access. A quarter of smartphone owners (25%) say that they mostly go online using their phone, rather than with a computer. While many of these individuals have other sources of online access at home, roughly one third of these “cell mostly” internet users lack a high-speed home broadband connection.
