Pew Research Center and Elon University’s Imagining the Internet Center invited 434 experts to share their vision for what a better digital world could be like in 2035. In their responses, these experts hope for a ubiquitous – even immersive – digital environment that promotes fact-based knowledge, offers better defense of individuals’ rights, empowers diverse voices and provides tools for technology breakthroughs and collaborations to solve the world’s wicked problems. One respondent, danah boyd, founder and president of the Data & Society Research Institute and principal researcher at Microsoft, shared, “Imagine a system where we can identify vulnerabilities in our social fabric and work collectively to repair them.”
