What Are Americans’ Top Foreign Policy Priorities?
The majority of Americans say preventing terrorism and reducing the flow of illegal drugs into the country are top foreign policy priorities.
By a narrow margin, Americans view the U.S. airstrike that killed Iranian Gen. Soleimani as the right decision. But 54% say the administration’s approach toward Iran has increased the chances of a major military conflict.
About two-thirds of news coverage dealt with Biden’s policy agenda, while about three-quarters of early Trump coverage was framed around leadership skills.
The public is sharply divided by party, even as most support international cooperation and large majorities say it is important that the U.S. is respected around the world.
