Americans are increasingly going online for their news, and as a result, are turning off or turning away from more traditional platforms for gathering news. In 2010, the internet was the only news sector to see an increase in its audience. Every other news platform saw audiences either stall or decline. This includes cable news, which had seen solid growth in the past decade. In fact, for the first time in at least a dozen years, the median audience declined at all three cable news channels. Also, for the first time ever, more people said they got news from the web than from newspapers.
