More than eight-in-ten people in Mississippi (82%) say religion is very important in their lives making the Magnolia State the most religious among the 50 states according to this measure (and three others as well). In some other Southern states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee and South Carolina, at least seven-in-ten people also say religion is very important in their lives.
