Millennials Tend to Identify with the Democratic Party
More than half of Millennials say they identify with or lean to the Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party continues to have a wide lead in party identification among Millennials, voters born after 1980.
Currently 55% of Millennials identify with or lean to the Democratic Party, compared with 36% who identify or lean to the Republican Party. However, the Democrats’ advantage among Millennial voters has declined from 32 points in 2008 to 19 points today.
The balance of party identification is more evenly divided among other generations. Republicans have a four-point advantage among voters in the Silent Generation, while Democrats have an equivalent lead among Baby Boomers. Generation X is evenly divided (47% Democrat vs. 45% Republican). Read More
