Government Responsible for Care of Needy
A majority of Americans (57%) mostly or completely agree that it is the responsibility of government to “take care of people who can’t take care of themselves” — however only 19% completely agree.
The vast majority of self-identified middle class workers (89% overall) are either completely or mostly satisfied with their job.
By a margin of 69-28, Americans agree that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.
By a ratio of two-to-one, (61%-31%) African Americans say that the values of poor and middle class blacks have grown more dissimilar over the past decade.
