Introduction

 

Use of military force remains high in the public consciousness despite the end of the Cold War.  In some way, it has become even more prominent since last year when we reported on public attitudes toward military intervention and the impact of news coverage on those attitudes.  Moreover, the increased politicalization of foreign policy issues by the Republican-led Congress suggests that international affairs, with its concomitant potential of military action, will play a significant role in domestic political debate throughout the 1996 Presidential election campaign.
