Immigrants sent a record amount of money home to sub-Saharan African countries in 2017
Money sent by immigrants to their home countries in sub-Saharan Africa reached a record $41 billion in 2017.
Global migration has increased in the past few decades, and the 27 nations surveyed, collectively, are home to more than half of the world’s international migrants. Most of those surveyed in these nations say their country has become more diverse in the past 20 years (median of 69%).
Over the decade from 2007 to 2017, government restrictions on religion – laws, policies and actions by state officials that restrict religious beliefs and practices – increased markedly around the world.
