Views of the Iraq war continue to differ greatly by partisan affiliation with fully 80% of Republicans now saying that the U.S. is making progress in defeating the insurgency in Iraq compared with only 36% of Democrats and 44% of independents. However all partisan groups have become more positive about the progress of the war recently, although still only 38% say that the decision to intervene with military forces in Iraq was the right decision, a view esssentially unchanged over the last year.
