Teenage girls are far more likely to send text messages with their cell phones than are teenage boys. A teenage girl will typically send and receive 80 texts a day; a typical teenage boy will have half the volume of text messages (30 a day). Girls are also more likely to send several text messages to friends a day (86%) than are boys (64%). Fully 84% of teenage girls will have long exchanges via text messages, 76% will text about school work and 59% will send a text message “just to say hello” several times a day.
