Migrants tend to move to regions where their religion is common, but some regions also see large influxes of migrants from minority religious groups.
Of the 198 places analyzed, 24 scored “very high” in our measure of government restrictions, up from 19 in 2021. For social hostilities, “very high” score totals were unchanged.
In nearly every place surveyed, half or more say life after death is likely. Fewer believe in reincarnation or that ancestral spirits can affect their lives.
Buddhists, the religiously unaffiliated and Daoists each make up about a quarter of Taiwan’s adult population.
Older adults are more likely to participate in civic activities like voting, donating or attending religious services, while younger adults engage more in online spaces.
