Majorities of adults in 18 of 24 countries surveyed this spring rate their nation’s economic situation poorly.
Overwhelmingly, people believe the U.S. interferes in the affairs of other countries (82%), but most also believe the U.S. contributes to peace and stability around the world (61%). U.S. President Joe Biden receives mostly positive reviews from publics around the world with 54% expressing confidence in Biden, while 39% say they lack confidence in him.
In most countries surveyed, around nine-in-ten or more adults are online. In South Korea, 99% of adults use the internet.
A 24-country survey finds a median of 59% are dissatisfied with how their democracy is functioning, and 74% think elected officials don’t care what people like them think.
Across 34 nations polled, a 43% median have confidence in Biden’s handling of world affairs, while a 28% median have confidence in Trump.
A median of about two-thirds of adults (64%) rate their country’s economic situation poorly.
Across 24 countries surveyed, a median of 66% give the EU a positive rating, while 29% give it a negative one.
Majorities in most of the 27 places around the world surveyed in 2023 and 2024 say abortion should be legal in all or most cases.
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted international travel in 2020 and 2021, but diplomatic travel picked up significantly in 2022.
