The proportion of children in the nation’s population is at an all-time low, according to a new analysis of important findings and trends from the first wave of 2010 Census data that has just been published by the Population Reference Bureau. The report, which is built on the redistricting data file released earlier this year, also explores the nation’s growing racial and ethnic diversity and examines demographic changes for states, counties and metropolitan areas. The publication, “First Results from the 2010 Census, also discusses what is known so far about the accuracy of the 2010 Census.
The Brookings Institution also has published several recent analyses of changing state, county and metropolitan area demographics from the 2010 Census, including a report looking at the uneven aging of the country and a report examining race and ethnic change at different levels of geography.
