A survey of news executives finds scant optimism about the future of journalism — 58% of executives say the profession is headed in the “wrong direction;” just 41% say journalism is headed in the right direction. While there is not an overwhelming amount of hope in either camp, broadcast news executives are noticeably more pessimistic about journalism’s future than are executives at newspaper-based operations. By a two-to-one margin (64% to 35%), broadcasters do not see good times ahead for their profession.
