Hispanic Student Growth

In 1990, just one-in-eight public school students were Hispanic, but strong growth in the Hispanic population has led to one-in-five public school students in the nation being Latino students as of 2006. This population growth accounts for 60% of the total growth in public school enrolments over that time period. With strong growth in the Hispanic population expected to continue, the U.S. Census Bureau projects that in 2050 there will be more school-age Hispanic children than school-age non-Hispanic white children.
