An October poll by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press found that 12% of registered voters expressed some concern about whether their ballots would be accurately counted in the coming November election. But, huge confidence gaps appeared between different political and demographic groups: 91% of whites were either “very” or “somewhat” confident their vote would be accurately counted compared with 67% of blacks. Republicans were much more likely than both independents and Democrats to express confidence in the accuracy of the vote count; 79% of Republicans were “very” confident their vote would be counted compared with 52% of independents and 45% of Democrats.
