Nearly a quarter of Egyptians (23%) say they have used social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter to obtain news about their country’s political situation.
More than nine-in-ten teens (93%) who use social media have an account on Facebook, making it the dominant social media site in this age demographic.
Roughly two-thirds (67%) of social media users say that staying in touch with current friends and family members is a major reason they use these social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or LinkedIn.
A majority of adults who use Facebook interact with the website at least daily.
Far more young adults are able to identify the founder of Facebook (63%) than name the speaker of the House (21%).
Among adults who go online, 8% use Twitter.
Young adults are just as likely to check their email as their Facebook account on a typical day; older adults still favor email.
