Most Americans who use the internet now use at least one social networking website. Among the 79% of American adults who use the internet, nearly six-in-ten (59%) interact with a social networking site. This is almost double the number of internet users (34%) who used social networking sites in 2008. As more and more Americans sign up for these websites, the average user age has risen as well. A majority of adult social networking site users are now older than age 35, and the typical adult user is now 38 years old, up from age 33 in 2008. Facebook is by far the most popular social networking site. Fully 92% of social networking site users are on Facebook, compared with 29% on MySpace, 18% on LinkedIn and 13% on Twitter. Read More
