Social networking websites, like Facebook, have the ability to connect people from around the world. In many nations, numerous people are doing just that. As is well known, social networking is especially popular in America — 46% of Americans use such sites. In three other nations, however, four-in-ten adults or more use social networks: Poland (43% use social networks), Britain (43%) and South Korea (40%).Social networking is also popular in France (36%), Spain (34%), Russia (33%) and Brazil (33%). Germany and Japan stand out for their low levels of participation in social networking given the prevalence of the internet in those countries. In both nations, more adult internet users are not on social networks than are on them.
