Here’s a closer look at what recent surveys have found about Americans’ views of affirmative action.
Growing shares of Republicans rate immigration and terrorism as top priorities for the president and Congress this year.
There are wide partisan gaps over most of the 19 items asked about – particularly addressing racial issues and dealing with global climate change.
28% of Americans rate economic conditions as excellent or good, a 9 percentage point increase from last April. And the share who say economic conditions will be worse a year from now has fallen during this timespan, from 46% to 33%.
