In the U.S., 12% of all restaurants serve Asian food; that share is slightly higher than the 7% of the U.S. population that is Asian American.
Here’s a look back at 2023 through some of our most striking research findings.
About eight-in-ten American adults (81%) say civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. has had a positive impact on the United States.
Today, 51% of U.S. adults say they support the Black Lives Matter movement – down from 67% in June 2020. A majority of Americans say the increased focus on race and racial inequality in the past three years hasn’t led to improvement for Black Americans.
About one-in-four Black households and one-in-seven Hispanic households had no wealth or were in debt in 2021, compared with about one-in-ten U.S. households overall.
There are racial and ethnic differences in who takes on gig platform jobs and the negative experiences some of these workers say they face.
81% of Black Americans consider the outbreak a major threat to public health and about half see it as a major threat to their personal health.
Most Asian adults in the U.S. have been treated as a foreigner or experienced incidents where people assume they are a “model minority.”
Still about two-in-ten U.S. adults are “pretty certain” they won’t get the vaccine – even when there’s more information.
