In the U.S., concerns about political corruption are especially widespread. Two-in-three Americans agree that the phrase “most politicians are corrupt” describes their country well.
Older Americans, those with more education and men tend to score better on our 12-question quiz about international knowledge. Republicans and Democrats have roughly the same levels of international knowledge, while conservative Republicans and liberal Democrats tend to score better than their more moderate counterparts.

Republicans have long held more unfavorable views of China than Democrats, but such views have climbed among both parties over the past year.
Unfavorable views of China also hover near historic highs in most of the 17 advanced economies surveyed.
Republicans are more negative than Democrats toward China, though unfavorable ratings have climbed among both parties.
A median of 66% across eight EU member nations rated the organization positively this summer.
More countries still name the U.S. as the foremost economic power than say the same of China. And, even in nations that welcome China’s economic growth, few feel similarly about its growing military might.
Regardless of populist sentiments, people in Western Europe tend to favor parties that reflect their own ideological orientation. With regard to policy, too, ideology continues to matter.
