There is minimal praise from other societies for how the United States and China are handling climate change.
Despite the many depressing stories dominating the international news cycle, there is also a note of positivity among survey respondents in views of the UN, the benefits of international cooperation for solving problems and the importance of common values for bringing nations together.
Americans give their country comparatively low marks for its handling of the pandemic – and people in other nations tend to agree.
Majorities in many countries say global climate change is a major threat to their nation. Global concerns about climate change have risen since 2013.
A majority (56%) of Canadians say climate change is harming people now, while only 41% of Americans agree.
Australia, Canada, Germany and the UK are among the other countries where there are partisan clashes on climate change issues.
