In most places surveyed, more people name China’s influence as a major threat than any of the other geopolitical issues asked about.
Among the 32 places surveyed, support for legal same-sex marriage is highest in Sweden, where 92% of adults favor it, and lowest in Nigeria, where only 2% back it.
Citizens offer mixed reviews of how their societies have responded to climate change, and many question the efficacy of international efforts to stave off a global environmental crisis.
The spread of infectious diseases is the top concern in the U.S., UK, Japan and South Korea as global economic concerns grow.
Across many G20 countries, people are strongly in favor of increased gender equality and see global climate change as a major threat.
More countries still name the U.S. as the foremost economic power than say the same of China. And, even in nations that welcome China’s economic growth, few feel similarly about its growing military might.
People around the world agree that climate change poses a severe risk to their countries, according to a 26-nation survey conducted in spring 2018. Terrorism, specifically from ISIS, and cyberattacks are also seen by many as major security threats.
