Nearly three-quarters (73%) of Gen Nexters — Americans in the age range 18-25 — told a recent Pew survey that they have received financial help from their parents during the past 12 months. Fully 46% say they depend on their parents or other family members for financial assistance.
That’s the number of dog owners who say they feel “close” to their pet — beating both the number of Americans who say that about their cats (84%) and the number who say that about their fathers (74%).
That’s the number of Americans who now describe microwave ovens as a necessity in their lives — more than double the number who said so 10 years ago and a higher percentage than those who now deem a TV essential (64%).
That’s the number of children living with relatives without either parent present.
That’s the age that President George W. Bush turns on his birthday today, July 6. The president’s year of birth, 1946, places him at the leading edge of the enormous baby boom generation, which collectively accounts for about 27% of all Americans.
