A new survey, along with a related series of focus groups, shows the many nuanced views Black Americans hold about science.
Majorities in most of the 27 places around the world surveyed in 2023 and 2024 say abortion should be legal in all or most cases.
Among the 32 places surveyed, support for legal same-sex marriage is highest in Sweden, where 92% of adults favor it, and lowest in Nigeria, where only 2% back it.
Globally, Muslims live in the biggest households, followed by Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, Jews and the religiously unaffiliated.
One-quarter of all U.S. Latinos self-identify as Afro-Latino, Afro-Caribbean or of African descent with roots in Latin America.
Those surveyed are generally disgruntled about the state of their economy, and many are also pessimistic about the financial prospects of the next generation.
Europeans are consistently more liberal than Latin Americans, Asians, Africans, and Middle Easterners when it comes to judging what things are morally acceptable or not.
