More than nine-in-ten Poles see Russia as a major threat and have no confidence at all in Putin
Most Americans see little ability for the U.S. and China to cooperate on climate change policy or combating the spread of infectious disease. A majority of Americans continue to view the China-Russia partnership as a very serious problem for the U.S.
Across 12 countries, a median of 40% of adults say they have no confidence in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to do the right thing regarding world affairs, while a median of 37% say they have at least some confidence. About eight-in-ten Indians (79%) have a favorable view of Modi, including a 55% majority with a very favorable view.
Only three-in-ten Americans say it is a very serious problem for the United States if Xi Jinping assumes a third term as China’s leader.
Americans see China as a growing superpower – and increasingly say it is the world’s leading economy.
Around three-quarters of adults in Hong Kong (74%) express an emotional attachment to China.
67% of people in Taiwan see themselves as primarily Taiwanese, compared with 3% who think of themselves as primarily Chinese.
Large majorities in most of the 19 countries surveyed have negative views of China, but relatively few say bilateral relations are bad.
Globally, people tend to express little confidence in President Vladimir Putin’s ability to do the right thing regarding world affairs.
Americans and Germans continue to have notably different perspectives on the relationship between their countries.
