Six-in-ten U.S. adults say gun violence is a very big problem in the country today, up 9 percentage points from spring 2022.
Additionally, about half of lower-income parents (52%) say they have not had enough money for food or their rent or mortgage.
About a year since the coronavirus recession began, there are some signs of improvement in the U.S. labor market, and Americans are feeling somewhat better about their personal finances than they were early in the pandemic.
Generation Xers were hit particularly hard in the recession. Yet Gen Xers are the only generation of households to recover the wealth they lost in the downturn.
Last year, more than half of U.S. adults said they would oppose allowing teachers and officials to carry guns in K-12 schools.
Republicans and Democrats find rare common ground on some gun policy proposals in the U.S., but there are sharp partisan differences on other issues.
The number of U.S. households renting their home increased significantly between 2006 and 2016, as did the share.
While the demographic profile of NRA members is similar to that of other gun owners, their political views, the way they use their firearms and their attitudes about gun policy differ significantly from gun owners who are not members of the organization.
Americans are moving at the lowest rate on record, and recently released Census Bureau data show that a primary reason is that Millennials are moving significantly less than earlier generations of young adults.
