# How do you use Facebook and Twitter for news?

Social media is becoming an important news source for many Americans. New research from the Pew Research Center shows [30% of Americans get news on Facebook](https://www.pewresearch.org/journalism/2013/10/24/the-role-of-news-on-facebook/) and [8% get news on Twitter](https://www.pewresearch.org/journalism/2013/11/04/twitter-news-consumers-young-mobile-and-educated).
