# Own a Smartphone

More than a third of American adults (35%) own a smartphone. Most adults now own a cell phone (83%), and among this group 42% own a smartphone. Not surprisingly, younger adults are more likely than older adults to own a smartphone. In fact, a majority of adults ages 25 to 34 (58%) own one. By comparison, only a quarter of adults (24%) ages 50 to 64 do. Adults living in a household earning income of $75,000 or more (59%) and adults with a college education (48%) are also highly likely to own a smartphone. Nonwhites adults are also more likely to own a smart phone than are white adults. Fully 44% of blacks and 44% of Latinos own a smart phone, compared with only 30% of white adults.
