# Internet and Cell Phones Increasing Family Communication

Advances in communication technology, such as internet access and cell phones, are cited as having a positive impact on the quality of communication with family members within the household by half of Americans (47%). Another 47% does not believe they have had any impact while only 4% say new technologies have decreased the quality of communications. The internet and cell phones have the greatest positive impact on the quality of communication with family members living elsewhere; 53% say new technologies have increased the quality of communication with these family members.
