# Hispanics Strongly Backed Obama

According to a Pew Hispanic Center analysis of exit polls, Latino voters supported Barack Obama (67%) over John McCain (31%) by more than a two-to-one margin. Latino’s comprised 9% of the electorate. The Latino vote was significantly more Democratic than in 2004 when George Bush won 40% of the Hispanics, a modern high for a Republican. Both Hispanic men (64%) and women (68%) went strongly for Obama. Younger Hispanics (age 18 to 29), like younger voters nationwide, also supported Obama by a lopsided margin (76% to 19%).
