# Taxing Issue

While taxes are historically considered an issue favoring Republicans, Barack Obama is currently chosen by 49% of voters on dealing with taxes compared to 36% who choose John McCain. Obama held a smaller advantages on taxes in September (44% to 39%). Women choose Obama over McCain by a substantial margin on taxes, favoring him by 25 points. Obama is also the choice of the wealthiest voters (those making over $75,000) on taxes, favored by a 49%-to-40% margin.
