# Rating the Current Economy

Just 11% of the public rates the economy as excellent or good, down from 17% in early February, and 26% in January — judgments about the national economy are now as negative as they were during the recession of the early 1990s. In August 1993, 10% of Americans rated the economy as excellent or good in a Gallup survey. A clear majority of Americans (56%) now rate economic conditions as poor, while another 32% say they are only fair.
