# Hispanic Employment

There were 19.6 million Hispanic workers employed in the US labor market in 2006, accounting for 13.6% of the total employment of 144.7 million workers. The share of Hispanics in total employment has increased steadily in the past three decades. Most recently, it was 12.8% in 2004 and 13.1% in 2005. Foreign-born workers account for a majority of the Latino workforce and a significant share are recently arrived.
