[Poll Report: Less Opposition to Gay Marriage, Adoption and Military Service](https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2006/03/22/less-opposition-to-gay-marriage-adoption-and-military-service/) A poll by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press reports that public acceptance of homosexuality has increased in a number of ways in recent years, though it remains a deeply divisive issue.

[Poll Report: Abortion and Rights of Terror Suspects Top Court Issues](https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2005/08/03/abortion-and-rights-of-terror-suspects-top-court-issues/) A Forum poll in August 2005 showed, for the first time, a majority (53%) favors permitting gays and lesbians to enter into legal arrangements that would give them many of the same rights as married couples.
