Race and the Vote

Overall, 21% of voters say they personally know anyone who will not vote for Barack Obama because he is black. Those who support Obama are more likely to know someone who will not vote for him based on race (27%) than are those who support McCain (10%). Roughly equal numbers of white (21%) and black (22%) respondents say they know someone who will not vote for Obama because he is black.
