Two-thirds of Americans support providing incentives to increase the use of electric and hybrid vehicles. Democrats and independents who lean to the Democratic Party are much more likely than Republicans and GOP leaners to say they favor incentives to increase the use of electric vehicles, 84% and 46% respectively. But while Americans back incentives to increase the use of electric vehicles, they are on the fence about whether they would purchase one the next time they buy a car or truck. 42% of Americans say they would be very or somewhat likely to seriously consider purchasing an electric vehicle the next time they’re looking for a new car or truck.
