Just over half (52%) of women identify with the Democratic Party or lean Democratic, compared with 43% of men. This gender gap in party identification dates back to 1990.
In addition to a gender gap, there exists a marriage gap in party identification. In 2011, 62% of single women voters identified with or leaned toward the Democratic Party. Just 31% of single women voters identified with or leaned toward the GOP.
On the other hand, Nearly as many married women voters identified with the GOP or leaned Republican (45%) as identified with or leaned toward the Democratic Party (48%). A marriage gap is also evident among men but is less striking. Read More
