Fully 64% of Americans say jobs are difficult to find where they live.

The proportion of Americans who say it is difficult to find a job where they live (64%) is at its highest level since October 2003. In November 2007, fewer than half of Americans (48%) said it was tough to find work where the lived. Majorities in every income category and substantial majorities at all education levels say jobs are difficult to find. While the perception that jobs are difficult to find has increased among people across the political spectrum, Democrats (70%) and independents (67%) are more likely to say so than are Republicans (53%).
