Over half of all teens send text messages to their friends daily.
Fully 54% of all teenagers contact their friends daily by sending text messages, making texting the most common form of communications among teens. This includes face-to-face conversations; just 33% of teens talk face-to-face with friends daily. Teens are also far more likely to socialize with their friends via text messages than through a phone call, whether cell phone (38%) or landline (30%). In fact, two-thirds of teen texters say they are more likely to use their cell phones to text their friends than talk to them to them by cell phone. The popularity of texting is not just a result of a love of new technology.
