Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping America and the world. It conducts public opinion polling, demographic research, media content analysis and other empirical social science research in the areas of U.S. politics and policy views; media and journalism; internet and technology; religion and public life; Hispanic trends; global attitudes and U.S. social and demographic trends. Pew Research does not take policy positions. It is a subsidiary of The Pew Charitable Trusts. Pew Research Center’s work is carried out by a staff of 130.

Position Summary

The Pew Research Center has an immediate need for a Research Associate to support its expanded portfolio of science research. The Research Associate will be part of a team that conducts surveys of the general population and elites, collects and analyzes Big Data and other non-survey data about science and society, the work of scientists, and their engagement with the public. The Research Associate assists in background research and literature reviews of prospective research subject, helps design research projects, manages data collection, performs statistical analysis, writes research reports, produces charts and tables and other visual representations of data, fact checks data, and responds to public inquiries about the data and findings. The Research Associate will also be expected to write regular blog posts about Pew Research data and other data-related research by other organizations. Ultimately the job is a mixture of the production of very visible deliverables and a lot of work in the trenches to meet the needs of meeting public demands and working through exacting quality control review.
